Chris Danbury - Specialist Clinical Negligence Mediator

Mediation Experience:

I am an experienced mediator specialising in healthcare mediation.

Mediation is a key component of my role as a consultant Intensive Care Physician. I frequently help resolve tense discussions between other clinicians and families about the best interests of individuals who lack the capacity. I am active in local NHS disputes process.

I lecture on healthcare mediation at National and International meetings and have been interviewed by the BBC about healthcare mediation.

In 2014 I was an expert witness in a case in the Court of Protection. The Court had been asked to decide about the Best Interests of a patient who was close to the end of his life. I mediated a resolution to the disagreements between the parties.

I am a volunteer for Resolve, who provide community mediation in Berkshire and Oxfordshire.

I was appointed as Visiting Fellow in Health Law by the University of Reading in 2005 and lecture LLB students. Within the ICU community, I lecture regularly on all aspects of law including clinical negligence. From autumn 2018 I will be delivering training to aspiring medical experts.
